Opel Astra Electric is available with two types of body.

Development of the family Opel Astra follows the same scenario as the related model Peugeot 308.

Back in September, the electric E-308 was introduced, and now the same modification appeared in the Astra.

Like its French counterpart, the battery-powered Opel Astra Electric is offered as a hatchback and station wagon.

And now there will be the widest set of power units in the range, because the Astra already has gasoline, diesel and hybrid variants.

Technically it is close to Peugeot E-308 though there are some unique characteristics.

Visually, the car is similar to the standard variation. The electric version is available for both hatchback and station wagon. By the way, a similar platform was used for the model as for the modifications that use internal combustion engines.

The sales, most likely, will begin in the near future, but the terms are not announced yet, as well as the prices.

However, the engine can give these parameters only in the driving mode Sport, and in presets Normal and Eco the indicators are reduced.

The traction battery with a capacity of 54 kW∙h (51 kW∙h is used) is lithium-ion, with a cathode made of an alloy of lithium, nickel, manganese and cobalt.

A full charge should be sufficient for 416 km on the WLTP cycle.

The onboard AC charger has a capacity of 11 kW, and from a 100 kW DC terminal the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in 26 minutes. The maximum speed is 170 km/h.

On the outside and in the interior, the Astra Electric is almost indistinguishable from other versions, although battery cars are only offered in rich trims with matrix headlights, a 10-inch dash screen, and other equipment.

As for the exterior, as mentioned above, there are no particular differences from the standard version. Although the luggage compartment holds slightly less cargo.

So, in the standard version is declared a volume of 516 liters, but with folded rear seats it increases to 1,553 liters. The standard version has other characteristics — 608 and 1,634 liters.

Opel Astra Electric 2023.

The station wagon has other technical characteristics. A hybrid unit with 225 horsepower and traction equal to 360 N*m is declared here.

On the European market the hatchback Opel Astra Electric will be available in summer 2023, the station wagon will be ready by the end of the year.

The prices haven’t been announced yet, but they will hardly be lower than 40 thousand euros. Now the non-gasoline Astra costs from 25,510 euros and for hybrid they ask at least 38650 euros.

By 2028, Opel intends to completely switch to electric cars in Europe.
