One night, when Hayley and her family were driving home from supper, her husband noticed something unusual. He saw the individual in the car next to them toss something out the window as they were stopped at a stop light.
Hayley told iHeartCats, “We didn’t understand what it was until the car drove away.” “Unfortunately, neither did the truck behind them…”
It was a kitten that had been thrown away like trash. Unfortunately, it had been driven over by the car.The pair, as well as Haley’s mother, pulled over right away.“We came to a halt in traffic, and my mother sprang out to save the little cat who had been run over,” Hayley said.
That’s when they recognized there was yet another life to save.
“They saw another kitty racing across the road,” she added.
They took the babies to the emergency room, but the one who had been struck unfortunately died on the way there. The cat wasn’t alone, and he received a little taste of affection as he took his final breaths, which is the only comfort.
But there was another person’s life on the line. Laney, a 6-week-old survivor, was able to survive the experience. She earned a clean bill of health after her check-up, except from a small eye injury she had from hitting with the ground.
After the ordeal, the baby is “so lovely but extremely terrified,” but she will never have to face such abuse again. Laney is loved and carefully cared for now that she is in Hayley’s family’s care.
Because they already have a “full house” of rescue animals – four dogs and two cats – the couple is worried if they can offer Laney a forever home.
But one thing is certain: they are glad to care for the sweetheart while she recovers and puts on weight. If they decide to re-home her, they’ll find her a family that will love and care for her as much as she deserves!
We are grateful to Hayley, her husband, and her mother for coming over to save this sweet little child. Thanks very much to Hayley for allowing us to share their story!
